Wow, okay, so many posts to read...
I want to know why everyone on my friends page decided to post all these links in the last 24 hours. It's a conspiracy, I say! :P
Sean Astin MSN Chat Transcript So much with the good! DishDiva says: I mean there are people who know how to speak Elvish! *looks at Bria and whistles innocently* Also including djdeathskiss in Onstage_1 asks: Hey Sean- You rocked in ROTK! Were you as emotional as the rest of us when you finally saw the finished film?
Sean_Astin_live says: When I first saw it in it's unfinished form in England I cried harder than I've ever cried in my life. When I saw the final version I was mostly analytical and dispassionate figuring what had been cut out. I'm hoping in the extended version of the DVD that I can reach the same level of emotional attachment. There was so much that had to be cut out and that impacted how I responded to the film. I'm glad that everyone doesn't know what's cut out so they can have their own opinion of the film. The last 45 minutes of the film is very satisfying for me to watch.
Thank you, Sean, you have single-handedly made me feel better, and less like an asshole because I wasn't emotionally moved by the last movie. Now, simply because of what you've said here, I am putting a lot of hope and faith into the DVDs. The spark has returned to my heart. *huge grin* I love you and will bear you more children. lol.
hello_huge_fan_101 in Onstage_1 asks: What is your favorite thing about Tolkiens books?
Sean_Astin_live says: I think my favorite thing would have to be how many different, incredible observations of human nature he interweaves into this story. You can read it and learn about yourself, communicated so clearly and articulately. Tolkien must have been a good study of human behavior and he fused that and enlightenment into his work. That's what I like about it.
Oh my lord I have to marry him now. He's a celebrity, he can get away with having two wives. Just... yes. It feels SO GOOD knowing someone out there shares some of my views on things. SO good.
'Rings' Fans Awed by Sequel's Car Chase Scene *snort* I like PJ's dialog. I also think the screenwriter they're referring to is Philippa Boyens. *nods* She rubs me the wrong way.
IGN Interviews Dominic Monaghan. This is long, but very in depth. I LOVE it. Especially page 8, *eg*
RotK EE Rumored "longer than 4 hours and 50 min" *wibble* o_O
"Lord of the Rings" is for boys ... While this lady ticks me off, I can't help but notice she's just another reviewer to add to the dozens thus far that have said the same thing. What's interesting about James' piece isn't that she dislikes Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" movies, which is any critic's prerogative. She thinks they're too rarely infused with human feeling.
LA's Fashion Institute to Feature RotK Costumes. I am so going. The Academy's are on Feb 29th, I could hit both at one time.
Longer movies, bigger drinks and no intermissions equal a new kind of epic struggle in the theater: one bowl to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
OMG. I want this. AHAHAHAHAHA. THAT'S THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!
*SNORT* Confused by RotK? This will clarify it for you. lol. *side note,
iluvmyboys99 has the best LOTR cast icons EVER*
Okay, I'm still way behind on my friends entries, but I don't care. I need a break, I'm sick, and I still have to finish writing/editing Dom fic to send to B2 to post on here later. =D I think I successfully extracted all the links, but I guess I'll just post again later if I find more. Heh. I'm really glad I read all those links, they made me feel much better.
I feel better because I now have more people to relate to. I felt like I was being cut off and avoided by my friends because I didn't feel so powerfully for RotK. It was very depressing, very alienating, very lonely. While I feel sorry that RotK is getting so much bad press, I'm at least glad that I'm not the only one that feels these same issues. I swear, if someone tells me "Separate the books from the movie" one more time I am going to SCREAM. It's not about that! If I had no previous association with LOTR, if the movies were my very FIRST exposure to the series, then I would have probably still loved FotR as much as I do, adored TTT because I wouldn't have had a clue it was supposed to be any different, and been totally disappointed in RotK, because it as a grand climax of so many things was a letdown in personal attachment. That has NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT SCENES WERE AND WERE NOT LEFT OUT. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY EDITIONS AND CHANGES. It has to do with the emotions put into the filming. Knowing that Sean Astin feels an inkling of that, having had such a strong relationship with the story, makes me feel better about myself because I know despite how many people misinterpret what I say and try to make me feel like less than them, there's one example I can point to and say "yeah, he get's it."
