Also.... heee... I just downloaded a Marvin bobble-head for my desktop at http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/. He sits there nodding at me and every once in a while I click on him for his opinion on matters. "If you ask me, this is all going to end in tears..." I *HEART* HIM!

IDEA! Somebody should have SOMETHING on them that says "Spaceballs the [insert whatever it is]" on it!

And we could act like DragonCon was like some alien planet and have guide entries on some of the more common things at DC. (Even if no one else is going as a galatic hithiker, I am. I think I'll do it... Sunday... or maybe Monday.)

which just reiterates the disturbing conclusion i have been making over the past few ... how long have we known each other? months? days? eons?

but my geekitude used to be largely confined to things literary and lingual. i didn't DDR. i didn't enjoy comic books. i didn't watch cartoons and fall in love with their (deeply angsty) main characters. i didn't download soundtracks to movies. in fact, i didn't even buy soundtracks to movies.

Then there's the cardboard sign. We make some sort of "_____ or Bust!" or "Will work for ____" or some other sort of witty sign on a piece of cardboard. And on the back of the cardboard we'll put (as if it was painted on the cardboard at the factory) "Spaceballs the cardboard."

Secondly, you can't place the blame on me alone. *I* never watched cartoons and made fun of those who fell in love with their (deeply angsty) main characters until I met *YOU*. I CERTAINLY never OWNED said cartoons on DVD. ... Er, and I'm going to refrain from mentioning something highly incriminating about my past right now. *shifty eyes*
Also, I might point out that part of the reason why I decided I adored you was because you knew of Farscape BEFORE I CAME AROUND. Do you know how rare that is?
The DDR thing also is not my fault. I'll take the blame for the comic books thing, though I believe the blame truly lies largely with the Wrights. The soundtracks thing on the other hand.... all me baby.
You have to admit though, it's one freakin' awesome soundtrack. I adore soundtracks.
So don't give me this "my geekitude used to be largely confined to things literary and lingual" malarkey! PAH! You my dear HAVE always been a dragon! You cannot deny it, nor lay the blame on me! I only provided the optimum environment for your geekitude to flourish and grow at it's natural speed and strength, where it could go undisturbed and loved, rather than feared! Without me, your true colors would still have shown eventually, albeit it may have taken longer than it did.
An instigating factor, perhaps, but not the fault!
In other news, I have always been a peasant boy.

OK. so DDR was the Wright's fault. and Gav had a lot to do with comic books (i mean, the kid bought me my first one). but I have known Gav and Lawn for maaaaaany many many many moons and never felt the need to join them in the finer points if thier geekiness. i was content to be a literature geek with lauren and an overawed spectator of Gav's computergeekitude. (about Farscape...i have grown up with scifi. when composing that post, it didn't even occur to me that scifi was geeky. how geeky is that?) It wasn't until *YOU* came along that i felt myself drawn, pulled, dragged into the mire (celestial-nebula-star-factory-mire?) of pure and genre-crossing geekness. d00d. i now have a blog with this kid in my CS class (he set it up...weird? i think so) entitled Luke and Emilie's Geekcicity. d00d! i'm in a COMPUTER SCIENCE CLASS!!! AND LIKING IT!!! AND STRONGLY CONSIDERING SWIPING MY DAD'S "TEACH YOURSELF THIS LANGUAGE" BOOKS SO I CAN LEARN TO DO COOLER STUFF!!!!!!!!!!

and no matter what names our parents have given us, when we glance into the spring-water pool in the black-berry part of the forest, with the leaves falling like slow rain and floating on the water like bad memories, when we glance at the water and quickly away, we will see a dragon and a peasant boy.

Dude. It's not my fault that I recognized first what you could not admit to yourself... that everything about the Wright's is frickin' AWESOME. And it's not my fault that I was over-joyed with glee at the realization that they're just like ME (Ohdeargodinheavendeliverusallfromthisevil)! I mean, honestly, I found soul mates. I'm allowed to show extreme amounts of geek-powered joy(-of-doooom). And I don't believe I ever once said, "Hey, you sass that hoopy Em Petit? Why doesn't she understand what totally radicool froods we are? We must force her to give her soul to our (most excellent) way of life!" No. It's not MY fault that YOU saw finally that all your predisposed ideas of what is and is not cool were fallacy. It is not MY fault that your insatiable appetite for knowing what the hell is going on at all times drove you into our fandom ways. And it is not my fault (though certainly my great joy) that you entrapped yourself in this world and found that you had a deep and dark love for these (insanely cool, yo) things. I cannot tell you what and what not to love. I was a path, a door, nay, a portal to a geekier way of life... but nevertheless it was you, my dear, who stepped through.
I also might point out that I never told you what classes to attend, nor did I force you to make friends with kids I've never met, let alone have joint blogs together. Weird? Yes. Definitely had nothing to do with me though. Again, that choice was allllll yours baby.
Now, as long as you're just hanging there, pay attention. The only rules that really matter are these – what a person is and what a person is not. For instance, you can accept that you're a natural born geek and a good person, or you can't. But geek is in your blood, girl, so you'll have to square with that someday. Now, me, for example, I can let you drown but I can't bring this ship into Tortuga all by me onesy, savvy? ...Er.... I mean.... riiiight.
