WICHITAW!!!
Had a FABULOUS day yesterday. The movie was really good! The animation rocked (I swear the same artist that did Ariel in The Little Mermaid drew Jim's mother), the creativity was at its finest, and the company was great. Oh, and have I mentioned how much I adore David Hyde Pierce and Martin Short lately? Because I really do.
"All my life I've dreamed of an adventure like this one and here it is staring me in the face and saying: 'Go Delbert! Go Delbert!'"-Delbert (David Hyde Pierce)
And there's a new Disney/Pixar collaboration coming out called "Finding Nemo" (I think). At first I thought it looked stupid, but they showed a trailer for it before the movie and I swear I've never laughed so hard in my life. "What is it with men and asking for directions?!?!" I think I'm going to drag my nephews to see it with me so I'll have a valid excuse if it turns out to be lame after all. "Oh no no, *I* didn't want to see the movie... I just came so my nephews could see it!" Yeah. Right.
After the movie we all drove back to my house (listening to my brand new Wallflowers CD, might I add. Eeeeee! THANK YOU JER!) where we met up with the 'rents for dinner. Jer, Mom, Dad & I, Ashley, Michael, and Mike & Vickie. I have decided that Mike Sr. is the funniest father I've ever met. Really. Wish I could remember some of the great things he said, but I'm running off of about 5 hours of sleep and things are a bit foggy. Jer, Mike, Ashley and I played a few rounds of Egyptian War and watched *gasp* THE EXTENDED VERSION OF LOTR!! Hehe. Which, is about 4 hours long now. And we started it at 8:00. Yeah. Michael, Mike & Vickie left after the intro, and Jer didn't leave till almost midnight. I'm sure father was thrilled.
BUT! LOTR! EEE! I've decided that it's s'alright. I kinda like the original better at parts, but I was thrilled none the less. Ashley and Jer said the best part about the movie was watching my reaction to it. Heh. So maybe I AM a little over-the-top, so sue me. Anyway, very much enjoyed the new dialog (still love how they stick mostly to the original text from the books) and scenery. Especially the passing of the elves, the giving of the gifts, and EEE! PIPPIN DANCING ON A TABLE!!! WHOOP! *THUD* He is SO my Hobbit/man. LOVE that little bugger. And might I add, some of the new dialog is HYSTERICAL. LOVE LOVE LOVE. LOVE!
Although, my mind did wander to very bad places. I blame Jer and Ashley for egging me on. The scene where Sam almost drowns and Frodo has to drag him in the boat? Yeah, never noticed this before, but you could see Sam's sword jutting out, his wet cloak clinging to it, and all I could think is "Hey, is that a sword or are you just happy to see me?" Of course I started laughing and probably turned about nine shades of red, but man I couldn't help it. "Sam... Oh Sam... I'm glad you're with me Sam... *sigh* *shudder* *moan*" *ahem* Yes. Moving on. Okay, not really. One more thing--Boromir is SO a Hobbit Fancier. Especially Merry. Boromir was so very much in love with Merry. It was quite disturbing, really. *sigh*
So after Jer left Ashley and I stayed up talking until 3 THE DARK 30 IN THE MORNING. Time totally flew. We were blithering away about religion, friends, not-so-friends friends, boys (so sue me. I do have these highly intellectual conversations every now and again. *ahem* BILLY! WHOOP! *THUD*), and a ton of other topics when I noticed blearily that it was getting lighter outside and we figured we'd better turn in if we had any hopes whatsoever of waking up in the morning. Dad even poked his head out when I was scurrying from the bathroom to my makeshift bed for the evening and gave me a contemptuous look. MEEP! But we all settled in and managed to make it to the meeting on time.
I was very disappointed to find that a lot of people were missing. Everyone I wanted to introduce Ashley to were not there. I was very frustrated. But it was a good meeting nevertheless, and I think her family enjoyed it. Oh, and Vickie made a passing comment about how the only younger person that was there was one brother behind us, and I said "Oh yeah, his first name escapes me but that's Brother Wright." And she sort of tilted her head and said "Aah, brother RIGHT. I see." Bwaaahaha. Yeah sure. Thanks Vickie. Because of that comment I saw the wheels turning in Ashley's head and caught a subliminal message about Nate Emerson. I will die now, thank you.
Anyway, that's the basic gist of my weekend! Hope ya'll enjoyed yours!
PS. I MISSED THE SCOTT HAMILTON SPECIAL! NOOOOOOOOO! I remembered about 3/4's of the way through LOTR and about had a stroke. MAN! I'm SO MAD AT MYSELF for missing that! I have been looking forward to it all week! Grrr. *sob* Oh Scott, I knew thee well!
