Dave Matthews rocks so much.

Great first night in Mansfield! Everyone in the house was rockin'. The band picked a fine set list that ebbed and flowed seamlessly throughout. They ended with Nancies-->Typical-->Two Step, an ol'school three-in-a-row. No one, including the band, seemed to want the set to end, but we have tomorrow to look forward to. Hope you can make it.

Guh. Oh my word. Last night was so... just... I can't even like.... ack. It was so so awesome. In an effort to regain some coherency, all I can say is it blew me away. I could feel it, every moment, from my head down to my toes; it's the kind of music that echos in your throat, and I love that. It ricochets in your soul, beating back and forth until every inch is pulsating. It gets under your skin and agitates your blood, speeds up your heart, makes your breath catch. Every beat throbbed in unison with my heart, each sound crashed over me like a wave of salty water, every word blew into my face like a permeating wind. It's an experience I'm going to carry with me forever, like a new part to my body. Already I can feel the whole night amalgamate with my self, fusing with my bones and assimilating in my stomach, like a puzzle piece that fills a corner of a deep void in my heart. I've never had anything so strongly and so quickly become a part of me, and it feels amazing. The whole night was amazing. It, in some small measure, will shape and mold my life from this point onward.

What else can I say? It was a thrilling experience. Me and Dani were the only true fans there among our group. Broady, Jeremy, J and Sands were "fans" in the sense that they could associate a song or two with the band, and liked what few singles they knew of, but aside from that they were there just for the experience of it. You have no idea how exciting it was watching them go from standing there with their arms crossed to complete and utter amazement by the end of the show. I'm talking mouth open, eyes wide, shocked amazement by the show. After, all I heard was how amazing the musicianship was, how incredible the experience was, what genius the songs were, and all I could do was grin and say "See? I told you, didn't I? Give in to the power of the Dave Matthews Band!" Needless to say I've been contracted to burn some CDs for some of them. And I'm happy, because not many people really feel the depth and value of the music, and I'm glad four more people got to share that experience with me tonight.

I didn't stop moving the whole night, either. I've never stood and danced so long in my entire life. There was not one moment I could bear to stand still, because every rhythm just dug its way into my soul and forced my feet to keep moving. It was INCREDIBLE. I was upset because we were 80 minutes late to the show, but according to the set list we only missed a song and a half because we walked in during So Much To Say, so that was good. And I was extremely bummed because I did not get to hear Grey Street live, which is what I was really hoping to hear these whole 4 months. Yeah, that was very sad, but I really can't complain. Just being there, live, seeing Dave perform the songs he did was unbelievable. It's so refreshing to watch someone really feel the music they're singing. That's what I love so much about DMB, it's real, it's deep, it's got soul and heart. It's an entity in itself with body, breath and life. It moves, it breathes, it climbs up, it spirals down. It's an expression of life, a form of art, an incredible culmination of the human spirit, and you feel it way down in the pit of your stomach. Every instrument, every word, every motion becomes part of you because it was taken from a part of every living thing, and that feeds its way into you and makes you feel what's being said, rather than just hear it. There is nothing else out there like DMB, and I think it's safe to say there never will be. He's a genius at his art, an incredible performer, and an amazing asset to the human race.

I think that was the best part of the show, just watching him. He danced nearly the whole time, and that was just fabulous. lol. And I love watching him sing, because he sings the way I do. The words come out so strong and passionate that it contorts his face and really adds to the feel of the song. It was awesome. The only bad thing about the show was that it was in an outdoor arena, which would have been an incredible experience because the night was so pleasant, the sky was clear, the moon was positively radiant, and there was a great breeze picking up each sound and blowing it in your face; but everybody there was totally smack. I mean, you name it they were smoking it. It was so nasty. There must have been at least half a dozen different drugs wafting in the air, along with the smell of beer and liquor. Blech. Dani actually got dizzy at one point and had to sit down, I felt so bad. But yeah, that was the only bad part, everybody whacked out. But whatever, I was busy doing my thing and enjoying the concert.

It was a great set list, the only songs I regret not hearing were Grey Street and Ants Marching. And J! They didn't do Bartender! But yeah, it was still a great set list.

When they set off-stage everyone was screaming. It was amazing, I must have screamed and clapped for 5 minutes straight. Everybody started chanting "Dave! Dave!" and "We want Dave! We want Dave!" and nobody stopped screaming and clapping and stomping and drumming the chairs until they came back. Btw, drumming the chairs hurts after clapping for 3 hours straight. LOL. But we must have carried on for a good ten, fifteen minutes before they finally came back out. It was so incredible. Anyway, for their finale they sang The Stone and What You Are.

...

Oh. My. Word. What You Are. That... was amazing. He BELTED it man. It was crazy incredible. Just... everything was amazing. It was the best show stopper I've ever heard. It was just out of this world mad crazy. I wish I had it on tape.

But there you have it. I think I covered everything, except the smoked out bozos in the parking lot that honked and whistled and cat-called as we were walking to our car. My brother stopped and did a little dance for them, ehe. Needless to say, they didn't make a peep after that HAHAHAHA. But anyways, it was so incredible. Fabulous music, fabulous company, fabulous night. I really like Broady W., he's a cool kid. Incredibly nice. Oh, and I got a T-shirt with all the tour dates on it, heh. I was surprised they didn't have more stuff at their stands, but whatever. No programs, which was a bummer. Just a calender, one poster, CDs, DVDs, hats, T-shirts and bumper stickers. I would have gotten the boys key chains but there weren't any. *shrug* Oh well.

Well that's all folks. It was an incredible concert. I want to go again SO BAD. I hope they have another leg. But until then I am totally satisfied with my night. I'll never forget it, not until my dying day. If you've never been, go. They are unfathomable.

AHHH

I know, but since they change their set every night I was hoping they would. They played it at their Friday NJ concert *SOB* Oh well. So what if they didn't play my favorite song? Waaaaaaaah.

*reminds myself how awesome the other songs were anyway*
