And an update.

There's going to be a Jurassic Park IV. Shouldn't a little voice pipe up in the back of their minds saying "BAD IDEA! BAD IDEA!" before they go and do something this stupid?

Wade Robson is going to be on Access Hollywood on Monday.

This Eowyn piece has some good RotK clips in it. Whooo, Merry in armor! Squee!

Wednesday was pretty normal... at least what I remember of it. JD came over with the boys in the late afternoon. He attempted to get rid of the trojan I have on my computer, but failed. *shakes fist at dumb viruses* My homepage will FOREVER be restarting itself. Which sucks.

Um... he brought cucumber salad (onion salad, Sandy made it after all) and antipasto and some baguettes (which led to a mildly amusing thought about expanding the "Fellowship of the Meat" idea Sarah and I thought of to include one "Frodo Baguettes." I amused myself and myself only. Bwah). We made spaghetti and italian sausage and had oodles and oodles of spaghetti sauce which only made me think of [livejournal.com profile] tis_true. Needless to say it ruined the goodness of the meal for me. *shakes fist at Sarah (not the preceding Sarah... I KNOW TOO MANY SARAH'S!)*

Um... later JD kidnapped me and we went back to his place so he could watch TTT:EE with me. I bet him he would fall asleep before midnight and I won the bet. Heh. Old man. So we watched the first half that night and then the last half Thursday morning. It was a fun time. I ate an apple and thought of my MutaLovers.

Thursday, like I said, we finished TTT:EE. He was supposed to bring me home but I guess he was too busy, so I hung around for another 2 hours until Sandy got there and could bring me home. Watched Finding Nemo. I love that movie.

Um yeah. Came home. Took a shower and got ready for the meeting. Meeting was good, per usual. Talked to Dani for the first time in forever and found out that Brian's folks told them they weren't allowed to see each other anymore. They said they could pick up where they left off in 5 or 6 years. ????!?!?!?!??!! Okay, that just pisses me off. So that was sad and upsetting. I invited her to come hang out today but she couldn't, so we have tentative plans for Monday afternoon.

Meg is an idiot and invited herself to Alicia's party. I hear Alicia has been royally freaking out about this (she didn't invite her in the first place on purpose, and she's too nice to say no when Meg bullies her way into things). Should be interesting to see what happens, since RoniSue and Scott have told Alicia they don't want her hanging out with Meg a lot. And Allia's parents don't want her hanging out with Meg either, and she'll be at the party. And yeah. It's all very teen-dramatic and it makes me frustrated, so I try to just ignore it. I've tried everything short of slapping Meg across the face and shouting "Don't you get it? You're annoying! You're selfish! You're a spoiled brat and you bring everybody's mood down by the way you act! And on top of that you do stupid, stupid things that we don't want to be exposed to! Stop acting like a wordily brat and start acting more like a christian!" *sigh* What can you do? We'll see how things go down at the party. Maybe I wont go so I wont have to be a witness to the teen drama. Oy.

Cynthia Rosse made a special point of turning around as she left the hall last night and saying, WITH A SMILE, "Goodnight!" I was overcome with shock. Perhaps this means she doesn't hate everything and everyone, most of all me? I don't know. I'm curious as to how this will turn out though.

Ben Verrill is the coolest 15 year old EVER. Matt Giff is a close second, but Ben is so cool it makes me laugh just thinking about him. Heh.

Um... I'm pretty sure Dave Woods hates me for one reason or another. Probably because of what Meg/Lexi said to him. Oh yeah, you guys are SO mature that it makes me want to be your best friends! *note sarcasm* Oh well, what can you expect from a 17 yr old and a 15 yr old? *sigh* Whether or no that's why Dave doesn't like me I don't know, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't like me for one reason or another.

And.... er... Shakita rocks. And I think that's about it from last night's meeting.

So aside from ER, that was my entire night. ER was just the icing on the Thursday night angsty drama!cake. That's okay. I had plenty of time to relax and get my head together before everybody came along to pile their burdens on my shoulders (and believe you me, they're piled high and heavily). Besides, it's not like I spend my work days doing hard labor, so what else are these shoulders good for? Might as well make good use of them and help someone else, right? Right.

Today I haven't done anything. Really. It's quite pathetic, really. I did discover though that if you peel more than 3 apples your fingers start to wrinkle, and if you peel more than 8 they start to wrinkle so deeply they look like little shrunken heads.

And there you have it.

And now a brief summary of my thoughts on the TTT deleted scenes:

-Elven rope! Mayhaps PJ should have explained it a little more for those fans who haven't read the books yet, because if it were me I would have been a little confused. But rope! Cool! "I think I've found the bottom!" *dies* And he remembered the salt! (Funny he can leave out huge details, but remembers the tiny things) "ROAST CHICKEN?!" Bwaaahaha.

-Thank you for fixing the part where the Uruk-Hai stop. Not so they can casually smell "man flesh," but so they can meet up with the other Orcs. Pippin angst! HE'SSOCUTEANDLOVABLE! And orc brew! Nasty! I am pleased with this scene.

-The Fords of Isen scene = less detail than I would have liked, but I liked. Eomer's banishment was harsher this time around. No, really, I don't think you've beat him up enough, please punch him in the stomach a few more times.

-THE SONG OF THE ENTWIVES!!!!!! EEEEEEEEE! THIS SCENE MAKES ME VERY VERY HAPPY!!!

-Scene with Gandalf and Aragorn was brilliant. Gee, you think those fans who haven't read the books could have used that information the first time around, PJ? Also, new Gimli scenes in Fangorn were so wonderful. "I MEAN---Charming! Quite charming!" and "Strong? ...Oh good." HEEEEEE!

-Pippin drinking ent wash = sounds like my father/brother. I'm amused. "You just said something... TREEISH!" And Old Man Willow? Awww, Tom Bombadil! *love*

-Theodred's funeral = BRILLIANT. I want Eowyn's hair! It's so amazingly pretty in that one scene! I love it! Very cool. And the song = awww. Yes. Good scene. Very good scene.

-BREGO! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Okay, yes. Brego. Wheeee. I love I love I love. Brego Brego Brego BREGO! Okay I'm good. Just yes. "I have heard of the magic of the elves... but I did not expect to see it in a ranger from the north." "I was raised in Rivendel... for a time." It still bugged me that Gandalf put Shadowfax in a stable, though. *shrug* Oh well, that is only one of the lesser matters I wish to flog PJ for. For now, I shall be glad of the Brego.

-Thank you for the description of Aragorn's ring. Also - you can see Grima riding in to Isengard now. I never caught that before. Saruman is evil.

-MORE FARAMIR! This makes me happy. I can really appreciate the trueness of their garb, too, to the way Tolkien envisioned it.

-Thank you also for the Eowyn/Aragorn scene where they discuss the Dunedain. Again, PJ, I must ask: DON'T YOU THINK THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE FOR THE NON-BOOK FANS TO SEE THE FIRST TIME AROUND??? *smacks forehead* I'm getting a lot of "HE WAS 87?!?!"s from non-book friends now. Which amuses me to all get out. "Why yes, you didn't know that? Oh right, well maybe you should get off your LAZY ASSES AND READ THE BOOKS THEN!" *ahem* What? Huh? I wasn't yelling. I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, PS. Eowyn's stew. Can we say "Priceless"? Because really. That was great.

-I love the fact that we got to spend more time in Rivendel, simply because I am a fangirl. Pretty.

-Sons of the Steward. A chance to see more Sean Bean. And this could possibly be bad how??! My favorite of all the deleted scenes. Denethor is a dick. I still love Boromir. Faramir, you precious little boy you! *hugs him tightly* I feel less angry about his slight-evilness in PJ's version, simply because of the pressures put on him from the afore mentioned dick of a father, but still. Cannon is the best policy, Mr. Jackson. Please remember this for future reference. Oh, and give me more Boromir. ProWr.

-They felt the need to beat the hell out of Gollum why??

-When I saw that "The Glittering Caves" had been extended I was expectantly awaiting some good Gimli scenes. Unfortunately PJ slighted me again! But that's okay, because more Eowyn is good too. Even though she was never at Helm's Deep. *blank stare* *cough* Right.

-DON'T BE HASTY!!!!!! THANK YOU PJ, FOR FINALLY PUTTING MORE OF TREEBEARD'S MOST OFTEN USED AND MOST FAMOUS PHRASE IN THE MOVIE, YOU DIRTY NEW ZEALAND BASTARD! *deep breath* I'm good. No, really. "Don't be hasty!" Ahaha. I love that so.

-Finally Fangorn comes to Helm's Deep. Finally. The elves were still there, though, which was a bit of a disappointment. *winks* Haldir isn't dead, Haldir isn't dead, Haldir isn't dead....

...He was never there, he was never there, he was never there...

-Okay, PJ SO did not use the real final tally in the movie as was in the books. Legolas: 41. Gimli: 42. Was that really so hard to remember? Although PJ did give us some great snark, which I'm very happy for.
Legolas: 43!
Gimli: He was already dead!
Legolas: He was twitching!
Gimli: That's because my axe is EMBEDDED IN HIS NERVOUS SYSTEM!!! *moves axe around and Uruk-hai continues to twitch*

AHAHAHAHA. *sigh* I love them so.

-FLOTSAM AND JETSAM! OMG! THE APPLE SCENE FROM FOTR! PIPPIN DID IT AGAIN! OH MY GIDDY AUNT, I LOVE IT WHEN SEQUELS USE LINES FROM THE FIRST MOVIES! Even though it wasn't a line. BUT IT WAS THE SAME LOOK! WITH THE APPLE! AND OH! PIPPIN LOVE!! Also, deducting that pipe weed could be one of Treebeard's distant relatives is nothing short of pure genius. They were toking! Those hobbits were toking on pipe weed! Ahahahaha!

-Faramir is my boyfriend. That's right. You tell that rotten Gollum a thing or two. And whee! Gondor's sewers! Why am I excited about this?

That brings my rantings to an end. So, to sum up:

I give PJ props for taking on such a huge project and making it as real as he has, but I think he's just a little too much of a horror film director for Tolkien's good. His style of direction just didn't fit TTT, not the way I always saw it, and he put a bit too much emphasis on the "scary" scenes than on the other more necessary scenes. I love the movies, don't get me wrong, but I'm just not sure at this point in time if he was really the right man for the job. But given my love for FotR, I'm probably just still peeved over his "reconstruction" of TTT. The deleted scenes help a bit, but his version of TTT still ticks me off. It's hard for me to not think about the book while I watch the movie, and it ruins it for me because the two stories are so different. I can respect them both as separate stories, but I just can't seem to get over what PJ did to Faramir and Helm's Deep. Every time I watch the movie I get a little incensed. It's just too bad. Too darn bad. FotR was tweaked a bit too, but not as much as TTT. I can see PJ's reasoning, and I think I know why he did it, but it still just messes me up. Cannon is the best policy, PJ. It really is. So yeah. TTT is still just a little tainted for me. I can't really watch it without it leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. Hopefully RotK will be all that I've been praying it will be and save the movie trilogy from my adamant mindset.

But, as with FotR, the acting, scenery, visual effects, WETA designs, music, and character development is great. It's a good movie, it really is. Just not as good as the book.

blergh. I ate too much tonight. And I still have to pack. I'll be gone all day Saturday and for most of Sunday. Going to Vermont with the family. As one sister put it last night, "You're going on vacation and you couldn't think of any place better than Vermont?!" AHAHAHA. Well, this is my brother's doing. We'll see how it goes, and hopefully it will be fun.

Gimli: He was already dead!
Legolas: He was twitching!
Gimli: That's because my axe is EMBEDDED IN HIS NERVOUS SYSTEM!!! *moves axe around and Uruk-hai continues to twitch*

I loved that so much.

And Aragorn's face when he ate the stew. And the scene at the end with Merry and Pippin. They made the funniest faces. So funny/cute.

dude, those chunks in Eowyn's stew were NOT natural. That was so gross! :P

*steals me a hobbit* Lord I wish I wasn't just imagining it. :P

[identity profile] orangesnow.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, huge chunks of fat are so nasty.. I can't stand having to pull fat off my food. Disgusting. All slimy and nasty tasting and soft in the worst way.

Anyway... *jumps for Meriadoc*

A big chunk o' brain matter

[identity profile] gypsyjr.livejournal.com 2003-11-21 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
heheh... sorry about that. I had to go about five seconds after I saw you. I'm really not trying to ignore you, I promise. :/

As far as TTT goes, I look at the books and movies as completely seperate entities. As PJ & Co. kept saying, what works in a book doesn't necessarily work for a movie, and Tolkien's rather laid-back sense of dramatic urgency would not have worked well in a film. (Hell, in FotR it took Frodo 17 years to even leave the Shire.)

And as far as Faramir goes, I actually liked him better in the movie, especially in the extended scenes. I think it's far more noble to resist temptation and do the right thing in the end than to not be tempted at all. That's just my two cents, and you probably don't agree and that's fine. :)

Dude.. not really related to this, but have you noticed that no one is as nice at first in the movies as they are in the books? The first time I saw FotR before I read the books, the introduction of Aragorn kinda scared me a little. And I KNEW he was a good guy.

Wow, I'm babbling. I'll shut up now. Cheerio. :)

Re: A big chunk o' brain matter

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
As far as TTT goes, I look at the books and movies as completely seperate entities.

That's precisely what I was talking about. I try to look at them as seperate, because they ARE nearly wholly seperate, but no matter what I do I can't watch TTT without a little light clicking on in the corner of my vision reminding me that this scene is SO not right. It's SO not the way it's supposed to be; the way it's MEANT to be. And it just ruins it for me because I can't turn it off. Tolkien is forever haunting my thoughts, reminding me that this was his world, his vision, his dream, his reality, and if it was supposed to be different he would have written it so.

I think it's far more noble to resist temptation and do the right thing in the end than to not be tempted at all

And I know that's why PJ threw that in. Because a lot of people wouldn't grasp how amazingly noble and kingly and wonderful Faramir's character was if they did it the way it was done in the book. So few people today have the old ability of being able to read people, and that makes them dependent on some sort of hard brash assertive visual confirmation of facts. The whispers spoken in written word don't reach their ears. They need some huge conflict to get them to realize the real stature of the man that was too big for the written page to begin with. And that's sad. Because you get the effect Tolkien wanted with the TTT:EE Faramir, but in so much lesser form than if you could just feel his character through the book. The nobility and dignity and passion and wisdom. It's touching, and I can't ever think of Faramir without gett

Re: A big chunk o' brain matter

[identity profile] gypsyjr.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I think LJ cut off part of your reply there. *gives it a glaring*

I dunno... I guess maybe I never felt as extremley attached to the books as some people do. Right now I'm thinking of the oral storytelling traditions where tales changed slightly with every telling.. but that's not quite the same thing.

Re: A big chunk o' brain matter

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
shoot, it did. I didn't even notice it the other night, otherwise I would have fixed it. *smacks forehead* Oy, bastard.

Um, to finish the above sentence, I was saying that I can't ever think of Faramir without getting a cold chill embracing my heart and bones, because he's so real. So human. So touching. I can't remember much else of what I said about it, but I always was very touched by Faramir because you could relate to him as though he were standing next to you.

Aside from that I think I just commented on the fact that you didn't read the book until AFTER seeing the movies, and that a little of what you said made more sense after knowing that. That it's hard for me to talk about LOTR with movie fans, because I've been reading the LOTR trilogy since I first learned how to read, and I am so much a part of middle earth now that it's hard to know where it ends and where reality begins. And therefore it's hard talking to other people about things that are so normal and old hat to me, because half the time they don't know what I'm talking about.

I don't remember much else. So I think that should do you. :) But Faramir will always be one of my favorite characters, because he embodied all the magnificence of humanity.

Re: A big chunk o' brain matter

[identity profile] gypsyjr.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think that definitely makes a difference. I usually dislike or am indifferent to most epic fantasy, so I only read LotR after the movies made me realize how wonderful it was. And I'm so spazzy and scatterbrained that a lot of the details went right over my head. (which is why the added part about Aragorn's age made me go O_O even though I HAVE reas the books.)

[identity profile] dramabsb.livejournal.com 2003-11-22 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be hasty was in the theater version....

*whimpers* Don't kill me for not having a life and remembering stupid stuff like that.

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2003-11-23 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, I KNOW that. But what I'm talking about is this: How many times was it said in the (original) movie? Aaaaand how many times was it said in the book?

Are you getting me now? Yeah. Good. Hehehe, the once or twice it was said in the movie didn't appease the avid book reader. His most famous quote! He said it at LEAST a dozen times! Come on PJ, get WITH it!!!

whimpers* Don't kill me for not having a life and remembering stupid stuff like that

*DIES OF LAUGHTER* Oh my god, you obviously don't know me at all, do you? *shakes head* No worries, hun, for you happen to be talking to the person that gets made fun of by every man and beast on this green earth because I memorize complete movies after watching them ONCE. I kid you not. So for a movie like LOTR that I've seen half a dozen times, it equates to me being able to do a one man play of the entire 8 hours (so far) including COMPLETE dialogue using the exact tone inflections and pauses as the actors used, expressions, gestures, and stunts.

Do you feel so bad now?

PS. I'm also the person that could identify which theater TTT was playing in simply by the way the walls vibrated.

[identity profile] dramabsb.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I just remember it was said. I'd read it in the book and the fact that he said it on screen made me happy, I didn't count how many times he said it.

*mutters* And people say I need a life. Lol, I kid, I kid. *wink*

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Psssh, WHATEVER!! ;)

And for me, when I first read TTT every time Treebeard said "Don't be hasty!" or "Not too hasty!" it cracked me up, I don't know why. So it just stuck with me through the years. ;)

Better late than never

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2003-11-29 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think I've found the bottom!" *dies* And he remembered the salt! (Funny he can leave out huge details, but remembers the tiny things) "ROAST CHICKEN?!" Bwaaahaha.

I LOVED that part. The look on Frodo's face at the "Roast Chicken" PRICELESS

THE SONG OF THE ENTWIVES!!!!!! EEEEEEEEE! THIS SCENE MAKES ME VERY VERY HAPPY!!!

I think Merry and Pippin look adorable in this scene. Sort of like a kid trapped in a long car ride with the parents in the front seat singing.

Also, new Gimli scenes in Fangorn were so wonderful. "I MEAN---Charming! Quite charming!" and "Strong? ...Oh good." HEEEEEE!

"What does a tree have to talk about other than the consistancy of squirl droppings?" MUHAHAHAHAHA That made me laugh so hard! (But then again my Latin class has a weekness for squirls.

Pippin drinking ent wash = sounds like my father/brother. I'm amused.

The arguement over who's taller reminds me of Anthony (a guy who's about my height - lj for details) and I arguing over who's taller. Today I mentioned it to Mike (Who is the only other one at work who has seen TTT:EE) and as soon as I said it he started laughing and agreed with me.

Theodred's funeral = BRILLIANT. I want Eowyn's hair! It's so amazingly pretty in that one scene! I love it! Very cool. And the song

Lovely. Absolutly lovely. Ya know for my distant future wedding I've decided something. I want Arwen's circlet, then somehow attack my veil to it. However, I want my hair like Éowyn's there. Wonderful scene! I think that one defecntly should have made it to the Theaterical version. Or if not, then at least the funerial percession.

"I was raised in Rivendel... for a time."

THANK YOU for putting that in! I was wondering if PJ was EVER going to bring that up!

Thank you also for the Eowyn/Aragorn scene where they discuss the Dunedain. Again, PJ, I must ask: DON'T YOU THINK THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE FOR THE NON-BOOK FANS TO SEE THE FIRST TIME AROUND??? *smacks forehead* I'm getting a lot of "HE WAS 87?!?!"s from non-book friends now. ...Eowyn's stew. Can we say "Priceless"? Because really. That was great.

Well I don't have many LOTR friends here who have seen TTT:EE but all of them know how old Aragorn is. Frankly because I was going on about him being either 88 or 90 for about a month or two straight! (of course I had to explain it to them then.... Lazy asses, read the book!) I couldn't stop laughing about the stew. I didn't stop until 3/4ths though the Aragorn / Arwen scene. Not only is she my favorite character, she can't cook either! LMAO!!!

I love the fact that we got to spend more time in Rivendel, simply because I am a fangirl. Pretty.

Rivendell or Imladras is my favorite place in Middle Earth. *Sigh* I want to live there. Then I could say, "Im elleth uin Imladras."

Okay, PJ SO did not use the real final tally in the movie as was in the books.

That amused me so much! I had to go back and watch it agin. Legolas's cockiness as he's examining his bow and then the look on his face when Gimli finishes speaking. Not to mention the now twice dead orc. LMAO!!!! This amused me second only to Éowyn's stew.

Also, deducting that pipe weed could be one of Treebeard's distant relatives is nothing short of pure genius. They were toking! Those hobbits were toking on pipe weed! Ahahahaha!

LMAO I love that scene! However, I like the version with the commentary better. "When I was seven, I used to eat ants." It makes me wonder about the Scoring of the Shire though. PJ has said it won't be in there, Sean Aston has said it wouldn't be in there but the finding of the pipeweed shows that he's leading up to SOMETHING along those lines though....

Sorry this is so long. You weren't online to discuss this and I'm impatient. (As we all well know) Please don't kill me. Meleth le mellon nín. Namárië.

"I was raised in Rivendel... for a time."
THANK YOU for putting that in! I was wondering if PJ was EVER going to bring that up!

Dude, I so thought of you when I watched that scene, too. I was like "Well, Bria will be happy at least." Hehehe. Then I started thinking about "Ada Forbids" and got all upset because NO NEW UPDATES!

That amused me so much! I had to go back and watch it agin. Legolas's cockiness as he's examining his bow and then the look on his face when Gimli finishes speaking. Not to mention the now twice dead orc. LMAO!!!! This amused me second only to Éowyn's stew.

Bwaaaaaahahahaha! I don't know, the stew thing was funny, but the final tally just busted me up. I LOVE THEM SO! OH MAN! Yes, that has to be the funniest deleted scene on the disk. And there's a lot to choose from, too!

I haven't watched the commentary yet. I'm still working on the bonus disks. (I always watch the movie first, then the bonus disks, then all the extra stuff if there is any, the bonus disks again, and then the cast commentary. ... Come to think of it, I don't think I ever watched the second half of FotR with commentary on... er, oops?)

*shrug* PJ said he didn't even bother FILMING it at all. You think it could be a ploy to throw us off? It's possible. But all I know is the OTHER scenes that he's decided not to include are way more vital (in my opinion) and if I could choose I'd pick one of them over the scouring of the shire.

Also: have you watched Disk 3 of the bonus stuff yet? Because they answered one of your questions in it. One that was reeeeaaaally bugging you. I was like "Oh. Hey, I knew that. Bria will be pleased, though." *nods* Good stuff.

I'm working on it. What about Damned? HMMMMMM?

I don't know, the stew thing was funny, but the final tally just busted me up.

They both cracked me up. I think it was more Aragorn's reaction to the stew. I'm not sure. *Pictures Jo giving Jack something like that only Jack isn't as nice as Aragorn is.* *Pictures Jo and Jack having a demon killing contest or something*

Also: have you watched Disk 3 of the bonus stuff yet? Because they answered one of your questions in it. One that was reeeeaaaally bugging you. I was like "Oh. Hey, I knew that. Bria will be pleased, though." *nods* Good stuff.

Not yet. Which of my questions?

What about Damned? HMMMMMM?

Dude, you so can not use logic against me! *cowers*

*Pictures Jo giving Jack something like that only Jack isn't as nice as Aragorn is.*
