ladyoflorien: (Elijah - Eyes that know the darkness in)

Home sweet home.

Well, I'm back.

As some of you know, I spent a week in London/Dublin the 6th through the 14th. I don't think, as a writer, I was prepared for the overwhelming amount of inspiration I found in Dublin. The place ripped my soul out and showed it to me. Since I got back home on Friday I've had the overwhelming urge to do complicated research on certain boring things (French history, biggest businesses in the 1800s, past wars and revolutions to name a few), and write and write until my fingers go raw. Already I have clarity on 4 separate stories, two of which are actual novels I intend to publish some day. I was not prepared to find so much this past week, and I think it frightens me a little.

But, now that I'm home I have a newfound clarity and drive I think will push me in all the right directions. I'm excited to get started, aren't you?

Oh, and since I've been missing so long, someone has to fill me in on all the details. You know, BSB, LotR cast, Sci Fi goodies... I need all the scoop. I mean ALL of it. Coincidentally I saw the trailer for "Kingdom of Heaven" this afternoon (whilst seeing Phantom of the Opera for the second time in a week), and it actually looks like Orli might be playing something other than an Elf for once. I'm excited. Can't wait to see it.

So. Fill me in. I'm waiting.

And writing.

And reading till my eyes pop out.

*re-immerses self in French history*

I know you saw Paul yesterday! I tried getting ahold of you so I could ask if I could come along, but it's impossible to get in touch with you now that your BLASTED CELL PHONE IS OUT OF SERVICE! Seriously, get that fixed. Because Em and I really wanted to get together with Paul again before he left. Er... speaking of which, when is he going home?

DUDE, I'M GOING TO GO SEE PHANTOM IN APRIL TOO! WHAT DAY ARE YOU GOING? 'Cause my mom and I have yet to book our tickets and a small group of people are thinking of coming with us. So yeah, tell me the deets, 'cause it would be cool if you could sort of tag along with the rest of us. :D

OH YEAH I WONT BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU YOUR PRESENTS FRIDAY 'CAUSE YOU'LL BE GONE, HUH? Dang. Well, I guess I'll just have to wrap them up all pretty and leave them in your room for you. :-D ;) When are you leaving/coming home?

Well, love you too, and have fun. Hope you get this before you leave...

um.. our boys.. I think I read something about everything being postponed AGAIN... cuz of a death in Johnny Wrights family... not sure though... just skimmed over something. We'll see. If its true, I'll probably have it up in my lj in a day or two.. so keep an eye out.

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
*HUGE HUGS* Hiya monkey! :D

YEAH, I was wondering what happened, since their new album was SUPPOSED to come out in October or something... so you'll have to let me know when you have all the news so I can read it. I want my new album, dang it!

In case I haven't told you yet, my computer is dying. Like, seriously. So yahoo doesn't load right anymore, that's why I haven't been on in ages. Every once in a while I try logging on, but it either crashes my computer right away or freezes everything up, or only works for about a half hour before one of the above happens. It's annoying. But I miss you. We'll have to like, e-mail or something. I dunno. :(

Much love to the BSTEM!! :*:*:*:* :D Hehehe...

[identity profile] bstem03.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
this is a new thing... they postponed it in Oct or whenever cuz they weren't finished with everything. Then they recently said March. But now with this... who knows when everything is gonna be released. *sigh*

Yes, we must try to keep in touch better. I've been without da Gabbers for too long! That sucks about your computer though. *sends good vibes to your computer over* Miss ya! Love ya! *hugs* :*:*

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
UGH! I'm beginning to think we're NEVER gonna get a new album. *pouts*

*computer recognizes good vibes*
*COMPUTER CHEWS UP GOOD VIBES, MAKES FUNNY NOISES, AND SPITS THEM BACK OUT*
*back of tower begins to smoke*

sigh... I've had to restart it 4 times today alone. *strokes it lovingly, only to almost get bit by it* It's no use. Oh well.

Love and miss you too! Seriously, give me money so I can buy a new computer so I can talk to you more again. ;) Hehehe, just kidding!

Mae govannen gwanunig nín. Welcome home! Glad your trip was productive. I could have told you about that inspiration thing, sorry. My inspiration I found came most from Scottland, Warwick Castle and part of the Louve.

There are all sorts of good movies coming out this summer. You can find a list of release dates and links to trailers/ movie pages here.

Don't get too excited over Kingdom of Heaven. Orlando's playing a blacksmith who goes off to fight in the crusades. It's sort of a strech of the imagination to see him in that role huh? Ya know... one of these days all this scarcasm dripping from my fingers is going to ruin my keyboard.

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-19 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I bet Scotland would do me in. Not only the sights, but the boys, and the red hair, and the accents, and the BILLY!
WHOOP!
*THUD*

Oi. I better never end up going there. *wicked grin* But you know I will....

Unfortunately, I knew about all of those movies. Save the last one: "The Island"? Didn't know about that one, but it doesn't look all that good to me. But it does have Sean Bean in it.... hmmm........ By the way, why does Charlie and the Chocolate Factory freak you out? Seriously, I've been keeping up on this one since it was just a rumor, about a year and a half ago... I'm so flipping excited! EEEEEE!!

FWAHAHAHA! Oh Orli, you poor baby... I really wish I liked you better so I could go on and on about your talent and how you shouldn't be type-cast because you're better than that and that maybe I need to be your agent... ah hell, all that stuff anyway. Seriously. I'm free. I'll have my resume ready for you. Don't worry, Gabby fix it all little elfy-boy...

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2005-01-21 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Scotland did me in. Now I get all excited when I even hear a Scottish accent. Jen's here now - she's from Newcastle and her accent is a cross between an English accent and a Scottish one. Hopefully I'll be accepted and I can go listen to that accent for a year. What's really going to do me in is she has a friend who has a flat in Edinburgh and we're talking about ringing in the new year there.

I don't know. It's the song and the immages. I don't know man it just freaks me out. Half my friends too. You know normally I'm up for some Tim Burton but not this time. Count me out. I feel like I'm on a drug induced nightmare when I watch the trailer. I don't know if I can last an entire movie.

I seriously think at one point Orlando used to be a good actor, he just spent far too much time as Legolas and now he dosen't know how not to be an elf. Ie: he dosen't know how to act human.

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-29 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooo, new year 2006? Cool... I wanna come! :( Heh.

AAHH, YOU MEAN YOU'RE NOT GONNA SEE THE MOVIE, PERIOD? DUDE! Didn't you ever read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when you were a kid and get totally freaked out by how screwy Roald Dahl was? Or see the original C&CF with Gene Wilder (coincidentally one of the coolest. actors. of all. time.) and get totally scared witless, but watch the whole thing and love it anyway? Dude, it's one of the most definitive artistic achievements of our generation; it's shaped countless artists, writers, directors... including the Tremendous Three who will ALL be working on the new film... I mean, it's almost a REQUIREMENT if you want to be an even half-way decent writer. And the fact that Tim Burton, the man that has redefined the genre of twisted fairytale in a way that's not only beautiful, but also totally captivating and heart-wrenching, is going to be putting his hand to work on one of the greatest twisted fairytales of all time... aaah. It's just the most exciting thing to ever happen for a Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Literature freak. And the fact that it freaks you out... well... your credibility in my book just went down the crapper darlin. :P I mean, you just CAN'T claim to love sarcasm and fantasy and LITERATURE and dark humor if you're honestly going to refuse to see this. Seriously. I... am just immensely disappointed.

And your comment about Orlando? TOTALLY. THE EXACT. SAME. THING. I SAID AFTER SEEING POTC. *shakes head* I totally agree. Poor boy/elfy-pirate/thing.

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2005-01-30 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factorary. That's not the problem. I never thought Roald Dahl was freaky or anything. And in the origional movie the only thing that freaked me out was that tunnel of chocolate thing where they kept going faster and faster. There's something about this new version that just freaks me out to no extent. I don't know what it is, maybe the creepy song, maybe the freaky way Johnny Depp looks, but it just freaks me out. Not only that, but I also have an adversion to remakes when I've seen the origionals. I know you love TB but I HATE his version of Planet of the Apes. The only thing I like about it is the make-up technology is better so the apes had unique faces.

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-30 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHAHA GOD, I LOVED the new version of Planet of the Apes. Fwahaha. There's nothing like a good sardonic political statement covered in cheese. God Tim Burton rocks so freaking hard. Seriously? The movie was supposed to be as lame as the first one was. It's not like he was trying to make it credible or something. But his underlying messages were frickin' hilarious. I love hidden messages in movies. Especially ones that attack stupid people/politics. God, that's got to be one of the BEST movies to watch when you want a good laugh. That, and the new Hulk movie. Oh man, they rock so frelling hard.

Oh, the C&CF book was very dark, and due to the general climate of the 70's they made the movie even darker. I know a lot of kids weren't/aren't allowed to watch that movie until they got/get older, because it's very dark. It's supposed to freak the hell out of you. That's part of the reason to see it.

You've still lost cool points in my book. I don't like remakes either, or books turned to movies, but I'm freakin' excited for this because it's not supposed to be a remake of the first movie. It's supposed to be different. Because the first movie was nothing like the book. So it's going to be bloody brilliant, I can tell. Tim Burton is going to take all the cool stuff about the book and totally exploit them in a way that smacks people dead in the face and makes them think. And it's going to rock like nothing else in the world. Every literature/movie/fantasy/sci-fi geek I know are practically dancing in their seats they can't hardly wait for this movie to come out... and the geeks I know are some of the most hardcore, pessimistic, "you do not mess with an original" people I know, so it's totally weird to see them all so happy for something like this to happen. In truth, so far you are the only friend like that I have that's doing exactly what's expected of them.

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2005-01-30 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to disapoint you love, but that's how I honestly feel about it.

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-30 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't doubt it. As I said, you're doing exactly what everyone expects. It's just that you're gonna be sorry later on. Or, to be more accurate, you may end up changing your opinion when you start hearing the reviews.

Of course, I could be wrong, it could be terrible. ...But who am I kidding? It's Tim bloody Burton for god's sake. He has yet to screw up a movie for those of us who know what to look for.

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2005-01-18 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! And what did you get at Forbidden Planet?

[identity profile] lordoflorien.livejournal.com 2005-01-26 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
TONS of stuff! If you see me online before I update my journal with the complete list, you can ask me then as the list is quite long. But a few of the goodies I bought were The Languages of Middle Earth textbook you told me about finding there, a book of Bilbo's poems from The Hobbit, some Tim Burton stuff including a Jack Skellington doll, and some other cool presents for friends. I spent a lot of money. On a lot of stuff. Oi vey.

[identity profile] jedi-bria.livejournal.com 2005-01-26 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Kick ass! You got the red languages book? I ADORE mine, pitty it's outdated but it's still dead useful! I won't go anywhere without that book - half the time it comes to school with me. The rest of the time it sits within arms reach on the desk.
