Goodies post! (better late than never?)
There's a lot this week, and some of the news is old, therefore I'm putting it behind a cut-tag to spare my friends page. Those of you who are interested, please clicky-clicky! ;)
Farscape
OMG! THEY'RE RELEASING FARSCAPE ON iTUNES! Not that I have iTunes, but MOAR EXPOSURE TO THE JOY THAT IS FARSCAPE! EEEE! PEOPLE SHOULD DOWNLOAD NOW! NOW!
More info: The Jim Henson Company Launches on iTunes. The launch will begin with episodes from the first seasons of the critically acclaimed award-winning sci-fi series FARSCAPE and the endearing favorite FRAGGLE ROCK. Wheeeee, DOWNLOAD THEM NOW!!!!
Firefly
This is a most fantastic Firefly ficlet: "Borrowing Freedom." Obviously written by an equestrian. I have to echo the sentiments of one commenter: "omg ponies! Firefly fic with ponies!" ;)
Fruity Oaty Bar Lunchbox on sale! Waaaah, I WANT! :(
Nathan Fillion on the Late Late Show w/ Craig Ferguson. This. is. HI-larious! I highly recommend everyone watch this. Oh god... Science Fiction Spandex Boy... and .... just watch. It's brilliant.
And on that note, FX 2008, or, The Nathan Fillion Show (now with video and commentary). I love that man.
LotR/Tolkien
Del Toro "99 percent certain" to direct Hobbit films. Fneh. Not a fan.
FotR youtube parody. Frickin'. 'illarious. yo.
1971 BBC radio interview with J.R.R. Tolkien. This is spectacularly interesting (there's a transcript too, since the audio quality is poor). I love this part:
J.R.R. Tolkien: ...There were some frightful mistakes in grammar, which from a Professor of English Language and Lit, are rather shocking.
D. Gerrolt: I hadn't noticed any.
J.R.R. Tolkien: There was one where I used bestrode as the past participle of bestride! [laughs]
Oh Tolkien! How I love you and your obsessiveness! Because that? Totally sounds like me.
The above interview goes quite well with the first few series of notes on the Tolkien lecture happening at the University of Washington right now: "J.R.R. Tolkien: The Storyteller's Story," presented by Robin Chapman Stacey, Professor of History and adjunct professor of Women's Studies. Part one, with more soon?
Music
OH MY GOD! I REALLY want to go to this!!! We are pleased to announce that Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will be joined by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for an unprecedented evening of conversation, music and compassion at Key Arena in Seattle, Washington on April 11, 2008. Gaaaah, WHY don't I live on the West Coast anymore? Also, WHY don't I have money to throw around for expensive spur-of-the-moment trips? Waaah.
It seems like there's been a lot of reunion tours lately, so not to be outdone, New Kids on the Block Stage Sudden Reunion, and Scott Weiland Hints At A Stone Temple Pilots Reunion. I? Will believe this when I see it.
Bill Cosby Set to Release Hip Hop Album. Why, Bill? Whhhyyy?
Check out Vampire Weekend. No news, just pimping a great new band. *bops along in chair*
Movies
AS#@%DKF@#)$JL!!! ENTERPRISE! Eeeee. That image goes well with this webpage I just found, which is a set of cameras watching Starfleet staff "construct" the Enterprise NCC-1701 (you have to move the sliders to get the cameras to focus).
Cadillac Records: Beyoncé Scores Etta James Role. Meh. Fneh. Bleh. That's all I have to say.
Slashdot.com Cinematic Titanic Interview: Joel Hodgson Answers Questions. I still really really really want the DVD! And for any of you who are also interested in picking up a copy, aintitcool.com did a FAQ-style review of the first DVD.
Top 20 Geek Movies Of All Time. Admittedly, I have not seen all of these movies, but I've seen enough of them that I don't have to turn in my geek membership card. ;)
Random
Polar Bear Protester Arrested. This is a video. Watch it.
Frak Off! We've Got the Best Swear Words from Scifi. This list composed on io9.com is hilarious, and totally comprehensive. Farscape comes in at number two, even though "Frell" was around before "Frack?" Question mark? Also, the best part? They included The Smurfs. [See also: Top Five High-Tech Lairs of Evil Masterminds, where they go on to list six.]
All right, this wasn't nearly as big as I intended for it to be. I ran out of time. More updates are imminent, but for now I run to catch a PLANE! Oh family visiting, oh impromptu trips away from home, how you backlog my journal so!
As of a few moments ago:
sardonicynic: You're the Nathan to my Tony!
(see: previous friends-locked post for clarification)
I? Am seriously amused by this girl.

Hey, you think Billy and Dom would be happy about a system of government run by Tree People? ;)

Have you seen the Fox series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles? Well I started watching it today (as thre's three episodes posted online) and there's this girl terminator that's been sent back to protect John. I'm watching her being awkard around humans and then kicking butt thinking, 'She reminds me of River.' I even thought she looked familiar but I couldn't place her.
After I get caught up, I'm going though the website just looking around and since I missed a few episodes (There's 2 that are not online) I wanted to learn what I could so I didn't miss anything. Eventually I come to the bio page and who's playing Cameron, (the girl terminator) but Summer! I'm such a friggn' idiot! I actually yelled at the computer, "OMG! SUMMER! I KNEW IT! WHY THE HELL DIDN'T I SEE IT BEFORE?!"
In other news today I was discussing road trips with one of my co-workers and told him that "the best road trips are when you're at the corner of no and where with your friends."
...I need a Firefly icon, I really do.

I think my favorite kind of road trip (or really my favorite song quote, period) is "the corner of Grey Street, and The End Of The World."
If you want good Firefly icons, I suggest joining

...I'm seriouslly considering taking some of my elf warrior costume money and putting it towards a Jayne hat.

*sigh*
No, I did not know this. Wow, this makes me incredibly sad. Damnit.
I would give you money to see you in a Jayne hat, preferably trying to sell Adam some strawberry bubble bath at the same time. ;)
Meeeh. Whyyyyy does D*C cost moooooniiieeees? *cries*
