A SAD DAY INDEED! Fire Destroys Part of "Back to the Future" Set at Universal Studios
Mon, 02 Jun 2008 10:24:48
On Sunday Morning
In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 1, a fire erupted on the Universal Studios backlot in California. The fire was contained within hours and did not cause any sustainable damage. However, parts of the Back to the Future set as well as parts of the King Kong backlot were destroyed in the blaze.
Three firefighters were harmed during the fire, which is under investigation. However, no soundstages nor any of the neighboring theme park attractions were damaged in the fallout.
Universal Studios president Ron Meyer said in a statement, "We are very lucky today. It could have been worse." Thankfully, none of the studio's video vault library was permanently destroyed. While some of the digital copies of movies were damaged, master copies and negatives were safely spared. More details, such as the cause of the fire, will come as the story unfolds. *whimpers*
"Oh No!" or "Oh Yes!"? YOU DECIDE.
Also, this sounds kind of awesome: John Cusack, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Ken Watanabe Get "Shanghai"-ed.
